Zarinah, Hey, I just finished your book last week. ... The book was well written and very interesting reading. It is definitely a must read for single Muslims. I've been promoting it amongst single Muslims I know. I like the way you structured the book. It's definitely giving me some ideas I could use in structuring my own book. Your book should encourage a community dialogue on the core issues explored concerning single Muslims. The MANA Conference could be used as a way to "check in" on how this dialogue is progressing and the responses of the Muslim community. ..... I purposely waited until the end to read your husband's "A Letter To The Brothers." It was worth the wait. Very insightful, thoughtful and heartfelt. My concept of Manhood was certainly expanded as a result of reading the "Letter." I found myself thinking about how I stood in terms of manhood in the context of the broad definition presented by Bro. Halim. To be honest, I feel very good about my manhood, especially in terms of my being a good, responsible Father to my children. However, there are others areas of my manhood that need to be shored up bigtime. Please thank Bro. Halim for his contribution, again. I've been thinking about copying the letter and distributing it to family, friends and associates (African American males particularly) to just expose them to its contents and challenge them to broaden their concept of manhood. The "Letter" offers a wonderful, full circle conception of manhood. It also clearly challenges us men to develop this broad concept of manhood amongst our younger, developing men in our community. I have to think deeply about Halim's premise that the very state of health of our marriages, relationships, families and community rest upon the degree in which us men have achieved and practiced his concept of manhood. Something tells me that Bro. Halim is on to something major and groundbreaking here. I'd still like to keep in touch. I look forward even more now to the opportunity to meet Bro. Halim and your family. Ma salaam. Bro. Andre'
